Boys Basketball Advances to State Final Four

The Boys Basketball Team’s “dream season” continues as the Cobras won the Regional Championship with a 69-60 victory over Norwich on Saturday afternoon. It was a great day for Bishop Grimes with a huge contingent of students, families, alumni and friends of the Bishop Grimes community displaying tremendous support.

The next stop….the Cobras will be playing in the State Final Four for the first time since 1995. They will play in a state semifinal game on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. against Section IX Champ Marlboro at the Glens Falls Civic Center. A win in the semifinal would put the Cobras in the State Championship Game at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night. Here are a few pieces of information to begin with (more will be coming throughout the week.

We advise you not to order tickets online. There are assigned seating sections at the Glens Falls Civic Center. You will not be able to specify seats through online sales. You can order tickets in the Bishop Grimes section in advance by calling the Civic Center Box Office at 518-798-0202 and specifically requesting seats in the Bishop Grimes section. The tournament ticket director will be in contact with us regarding school-group tickets on Monday. Information on those tickets will be emailed on Monday evening. Please do not call the school before then regarding tickets.

For those who plan on staying overnight, there are several hotel options. You can get specific lodging and restaurant information from the Adirondack Region Chamber of Commerce, online at -or- by calling 518-798-1761. Note: At the direction of the State Tournament Committee, you will not be directed to the team hotel. NYSPHSAA prohibits family, students and fans from staying at the hotel with the team.

The school’s plan is to try to continue to recreate the Cobra Pit atmosphere. The Cheerleaders and Pep Band will travel to Glens Falls for the games. Specific information will be distributed to those squad members early in the week.

This is an exciting time for the Bishop Grimes community. We encourage as many people as possible to join the party in Glens Falls as we continue to show New York State our Cobra Pride. If you are not able to attend the games, they will also be televised by Time Warner Cable with the specific channels to be announced later this week.
